The Liturgy Committee oversees and makes recommendations to the Pastor in areas pertaining to liturgy and the customs and procedures at La Purisima Parish.

There are many opportunities for volunteers in the Liturgy …


Lectors –
Fully initiated members of the parish who proclaim the Word of God at Mass, as well as non-Eucharistic liturgies. Lectors serve on a rotating schedule.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion  -  Fully initiated parishioners who distribute the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass.

Ushers & Greeters – This ministry consists of men and women of the parish who are assigned to serve at a particular Mass. They assist in the seating of people, take up the collection and generally help people as needed. They are occasionally called upon to usher at other liturgical and non-liturgical celebrations.

Altar Servers – Young people in grades 4 and up are invited to volunteer for this vital liturgical ministry.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word – Actually coordinated through the Faith Formation department, this ministry provides the opportunity for children between the ages of 5 and 12, to listen to the readings of the day in a way specifically designed for their age group. The children are dismissed during the 10 a.m. mass on Sundays. Discussion and prayers are also part of this process. Training and all materials are supplied currently by the Faith Formation Coordinator, Ginny Feld.

Adoration Chapel –  All parishioners are invited and encouraged to come and offer silent prayer. This devotion in our parish will bring you to a deeper sense of Christ’s closeness to you.  Our Parish Adoration Day is the 21st of each month, as well as daily adoration.
