Dear Parishioners,
With the summer behind us, La Purísima Parish community is now back to a very busy and yet exciting time of the year with many activities. Children are back to school, and they are very excited to meet their friends and eager to study. I pray for a successful school year for them with many blessings from God. Along with our Catholic School, the Faith Formation Office has been busy taking registrations. Our new Faith Formation Director for Children & Youth, Sister Grace Duc Le, has been working very hard to plan for a successful year. I strongly encourage parents to register your children for religious education. They need to learn about their faith, to prepare for their sacraments, and to grow into spiritual Catholics. They are the future of our Church. As we go forward into this new year, we will experience many exciting events. In September, many members from our parish will participate in the International Catholic Stewardship Council in San Diego. We have been attending it every year, and this year we have been invited to offer a session to share with people around the nation about the stewardship spirit in our parish. Also in September, our parish will come together for the Fiesta Patria, which celebrates the Mexican Independence. Many other activities will draw us closer to God and strongly build up our community like blessing of married couples every third Sunday of the month, daily adoration, Catechetical Sunday, Annual Finance Report to the parish, Intercession Mass in October for the disabled, Respect Life Sunday, Pennies from Heaven, Renewal of Sunday Offertory Commitment, and much more. Many other services are all year around. Last but not least, our parish continues to reach out to the poor and the needy in the community. The Second Harvest truck comes twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesday; our Trinity Guild’s pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 to 12; the Treasure Box service continues to offer food at a very inexpensive price. Our parish has always been busy with services, ministries, and celebrations. This is a great sign of an active community doing God’s will in serving one another.
